Home Remedies for the Summer

Sometimes we all get wrapped up in the popular science of the latest and greatest cure all. It has been that way since the beginning of medicine. That being said many common house hold items can be turned into medicinal wonder treatments for some common ailments.

Take for example non-iodized salt. Creating a saline nasal wash can decrease our allergy symptoms by 50% if done regularly. Think about all those irritants that fly into our air passages, specifically our nose. If you are able to wash them out your symptoms will be dramatically reduced. This process will require a neti pot 1 teaspoon salt and 1/8 teaspoon baking soda. Use warm water and add ingredients into neti pot. Pour in one nostril and it should come out the other. You just solved most of your sinus issues.

Baking soda is an item everyone has in their refrigerator. Not only is it great for removing odors, but it is also great for bug bites. All you have to do is make a paste with water and baking soda. You do this by mixing 1 teaspoon soda to 1 teaspoon water. Rub onto your bug bite.

Our last natural remedy involves extra virgin coconut oil. This is great to reduce and remove eczema. Apply the coconut oil twice a week to affected areas for at least 4 weeks. You can get this item at any natural food markets.

Hope this helps make your summer a little more enjoyable. Stay healthy and know that nature is our best medicine.
